Australia Awards Scholarships are offered on the basis of merit, transparency and equal access.
The objective of the Australia Awards Scholarships is to allow the participation of awardees with a disability on an equal basis with other Award recipients.
Applicants with a disability are encouraged to notify the Australia Awards Country Program Manager in Sri Lanka of any disability and/or pre-existing medical condition as early as possible, preferably at the time of application for an Australia Awards Scholarship.
Early and full notification of a disability will not negatively affect the assessment of an applicant's eligibility or placement but will enable the Australia Awards Country Program Manager in Sri Lanka to provide appropriate support throughout the application and placement process.
Reasonable disability support (academic and non-academic) is provided to recipients with a disability based on a ‘needs’ assessment which determines the level and types of support in line with the nature of the disability.
Australian institutions are very experienced in providing disability support. Many Australian universities have dedicated disability services centres to help students with a disability to participate fully in university life. Australian universities also have health and counselling services
